Overview

NetMove is a system designed specifically to aid teachers in collating and managing assignments and classes such that marking and managing of assignments is easier, saving the teacher time and effort.

The system is designed to run either over a school's Intranet or optionally across the Internet. Students submit files for an assignment automatically into a central folder that only a teacher can browse.

Students can only submit files as long as an assignment's due by date has not expired (late submissions are allowed depending on the assignment settings defined by the teacher). Working in combination with Windows security the system ensures students can not browse the folder with submitted files or effect another student's files.

The system is structured such that a teacher creates classes and assignments specific to each class. Once a class has been created, students can then register into the class. Once registered, class assignments can be viewed by the student. The student can submit any file into the assignment as long as the due by date has not expired. The teacher can optionally set parameters on the due by date to allow late submissions.

All teachers and students require a logon id to access the system. To create these student logon id's the system has special facilities which enable students to create their own id's by a simple one off procedure (the system can monitor their use and allocation). Our experience with classes of 30 students has shown that this one off task of allocating an id can take as little as 10 minutes for an entire class. A student needs only create one id which can be used for all classes and all teachers.

Teachers have their own id's which they need to log into the system. A teacher id is setup by the special NetMove administrator account supplied with the system. Once a Teacher id has been setup, a teacher can create their classes and assignments. Assignments and classes can be added at any time.

Requirements

The system runs via ASP web pages either over a school's Intranet or across the Internet

The system requires a database to store relevant data. Microsoft's SQL Server is recommended.

The assignment files uploaded to the server should be stored on a network shared folder with Browse access granted to the teachers user profiles. Update needs to be granted to the network profile processing the web pages such as the Launch IIS Process Account IWAM_????.

Cost

The purchase cost of the system includes the NetMove and NoticeBoard systems and Support for 1 year. Support includes access to any updates and new features via our on-line support web site.

Access to support, updates, enhancements and on-line support web site is only available if the annual support fee has been paid (support fee included in the first years purchasing cost).

If you choose after 1 year not to renew the annual support fee, the system will continue to work and software support will be still available for your current release of the software.

The costs of the system are quoted in US Dollars. The initial purchase cost is $195 USD with an annual fee of $50 USD charged each year after the original purchase date (you can choose not to subscribe annually however this will restrict the school's access to enhancements and some updates). For Australian schools this includes GST.
