Frequently Asked
Questions
AML
Detective
How does the AML Detective perform its
checking ?
The AML Detective searches
internationally recognised government supplied lists looking for matches against
the search details entered. If the search finds any name or part of a name
matching against the search criteria it displays this and any other relevant
data held.
When are the government lists refreshed ?
The governement lists can
change at any time. We will refresh our database as soon as possible after we
are notified of any changes.
What should I do if I find a match ?
If you suspect you maybe
dealing with an individual, company or have information related to addresses of
restricted persons then you should contact the Australian Federal Police if you
are based in Australia for advice.
Watch Out
Can I run Watch Out over a network or at home ?
Our application is flexible and can
be run on a single computer at home to large networks running hundreds of computers.
How does it differ from Internet monitoring
software?
Whilst Internet monitoring can block
web sites they require constant updating to include new sites. In fact it is virtually
impossible to always have them up to date. However by using Watch Out you can be one step
ahead by checking what the users are doing. Whilst web sites change daily the language
used by people does not. Stay ahead monitor computers by their language not the site.
How does it work ?
Software is installed on each
computer to be monitored. Once installed it checks the computer and takes appropriate
action once violations occur. For networked computers a secure computer should run the
Command Console which enables the systems administrator to monitor and administer the
network. A screen viewer enables authorised users (password protected) to view the screen
image recordings of the monitored computers e.g. a teacher checking students work
Can I run the command console on different
computers ?
No. We are planning to enable
administrators to have this facility in a future release of the Command Console.
Demonstrations
Do I need to Pay?
For our free demonstrations there is
no fee required.
What is the differnece between the free
demonstrations and those which I can purchase?
The free demonstrations have a
number of splash screens which are displayed within the demonstrations. You may pay our
fee and these splash screens are removed from the demonstrations.
Can I request a demonstration to be made?
Yes, simply email us with your
request. We don't normally request payment for a demonstration unless it is complicated
and/or very large. We email you the finished product free of charge. These demonstrations
include our splash screens.
How can I use these demonstrations?
These demonstrations can be used by
teachers in many ways. They can be used in the following ways :
- when you need to repeat instructions, such as when students
miss a lesson or are late
- reinforce what has been learned
- remind students of techniques previously covered
- new teaching strategy
- make lessons more interesting
- give students responsibility in undertaking their own
learning
NetMove
How does NetMove help a teacher?
Teachers who receive assignment work via email or go into
each student's folder to view their assignment files will know that this is a very time
consuming task. Netmove saves a teacher time by creating a folder for each assignment and
stores automatically all files submitted by students into the folder. It even renames the
files to make it easier for the teacher to view and mark the files submitted.
How long does it take to create ID's for students?
For a typical class of 30, 15 year old students, it can
take as little as 10 minutes to allocate the class their ID's. The system has been
designed to ensure that students can allocate their own ID's. The IDea is to ensure this
task is done once with as little effort as possible required by the teacher.
How easy it for students to use?
The system has been designed to make a teacher's life
easier. Not only is it easy for both teachers and students to use, for example once a
student has an ID the only typing they have to do is type in their ID and password to
login. All student actions in the system simply require them to click on options to
allocate their files to submit.
Can the students tamper with the submitted asignment
files?
By using Windows security access to students is denied as
the assignment file submission process is performed by the Netmove system. The students
are restricted from accessing the assignment folder by Windows security.
Why don't I simply create a folder and get the students
to submit their work to it?
History shows that students will abuse this if they have
access to another students work and setting Windows security for each student is not
practical.
Must I use a Database to Run NetMove?
Yes a database is required to store all class, assignment
and User ID information. It also records the file submissions history and is used in
securing the system.
Does it work with any database?
The system has been tested with SQL Server and Access
databases. Access is not recommended as it does not possess enough capabilities in a large
multi user environment.
What happens if I don't renew my annual subscription for
NetMove?
The software will continue to run however support is only
available for those schools who have paID their annual subsciption.
Do I need to run NetMove only on the school's Intranet?
No, the software can run across the Internet. Contact us
for further details.
Where are student files saved?
Students files uploaded to the server are saved initially
in a folder created for each student under each assignment. When the student wishes to
submit a file into an assignment the file is then transferred to the assignment folder
which only the teacher has access to.
How do I maintain the files and folders for the system?
The NetMove system automatically creates and deletes files
and folders for every assignment, class, teacher and student.
What happens if a teacher or student forgets their
password?
A teacher can reset a student's or other teacher's
password. In addition there is an overall controlling administrator account which creates
teacher User IDs.
